Physical Accessibility Review Chart

The following standards were developed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s One-Stop Disability Initiative to ensure that the facilities of One-Stop Centers are physically accessible and welcoming for people with disabilities, and comply with ADA requirements for physical accessibility. This is a chart to use as you conduct accessibility reviewa of buildings. It contains the standard for accessibility and the law the standard relates to, a place to record findings, recommended solutions, priority, action plan, and status. THe chart can be modified to fit your individual needs.
Program Accessibility Review Chart

The Career Center system is required to have anticipated the needs of people with disabilities in the physical design of centers, as well as the design of services. Programs or activities of the Career Centers must be readily accessible and usable by people with disabilities. Individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities should be able to enter a Career Center and use many of the available services without having to make special requests for accommodations. This is a chart to use as you conduct accessibility reviews of programs and services. It contains the standard for accessibility and the law the standard relates to, a place to record findings, recommended solutions, priority, action plan, and status. Recommended Emergency Preparedness Policies and Procedures For Serving

This booklet is to provide the information and tools for Career Centers to develop an emergency preparedness plan that takes into consideration the needs of people with disabilities. Included in the booklet is: an overview of Federal legislation relating to emergency preparedness and persons with disabilities, the planning process, evacuation issues, practice plans through regular drills, walk through procedures, drills announced and surprise, emergency health information, including people with disabilities in the planning process, confidential employee emergency health information, employee's personal assessment tool, personal support network, special help for individuals with specific disabilities, and evacuation options from two-story buildings for individuals who use wheelchairs.

Recommended Policies and Procedures for Serving People with Disabilities

Services and activities provided by the Career Center system must comply with those Federal laws and regulations concerning provision of services to people with disabilities. This booklet contains a template of policies and procedures, recommended for Career Centers to comply with the ADA, WIA and the Rehabilitation Act. Included are: nondiscrimination and equal opportunity policy, reasonable accommodation policy, requesting reasonable accommodations, disability disclosure, sefl-disclosure of disability at application, confidentiality policy, effective communication policy, integrated setting, accessible parking enforcement policy, release of information, and emergency preparedness.
